Bernice Larsen, 89, of Gaston, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Bernice was born on October 5, 1931 in Huntsville, TN to the late Orie and Florence (Jeffers) Hicks. She married Robert Larsen Sr. on May 9, 1953 and spent her life as a homemaker. Bernice worked at Country Grocery Store that her family owned. She was a member of the North Delaware Baptist Church where she enjoyed volunteering. Bernice also enjoyed working in her yard, being outdoors, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Larsen Sr., two sons, Robert Larsen Jr. (wife Karen) and Tim Larsen (wife Marianne); five grandchildren, Holly Kappes, Jennifer Streyckmans (husband Rob), Melissa Mann (husband Chris), Heidi Larson (husband Mark), and Brett Larsen; a great-grandson, Carter Kappes; five siblings, Joyce Gooding (husband Bob), Linda Shoe (husband Craig), Teresa Haynes (husband Jerry), Hershel Hicks (wife Melinda), and Bill Hicks (wife Betsy); and several nieces and nephews.

Bernice was preceded in death by her stepmother, Maggie Hicks; four brothers, Venice, Robert, Ken, and infant Donald Hicks.

A funeral service to celebrate Bernice's life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Pastor Jim Marlow will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to North Delaware Baptist Church, 809 E. Royerton Rd. Muncie, IN 47303.
