Carol Ann (Montgomery) Shields, 75, of Avon, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carol was born on August 29, 1942 in Lancaster, Kentucky to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Arnold) Montgomery. She graduated from Avon High School Class of 1960. She married Tildon Shields on June 2, 1963. Together they had two sons, Jimmy and David Shields. She worked as a leasing agent for Crestwood Village for many years before retiring. After retirement, she worked as a Hallmark representative inside Walmart stores. Carol was a devout follower of Christ. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, teaching others of the Lord's love, spending time with family, and taking care of others.

Carol is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Shields (Mary) and David Shields (Tammy); five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Claire, David Jr., Cole, and Carrigan; brother, Richard Montgomery (Dawn); sister, Francis Reed (Mike); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Tildon Shields; brothers, Monroe Montgomery, Butch Montgomery, and Roger Dale Montgomery; and niece Cindy Johnson.

A funeral service to celebrate Carol's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Conkle Funeral Home Avon Chapel, 76 Avon Ave in Avon, Indiana. Pastor Phillip Bilyeu will officiate. Burial will follow in Brownsburg Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Conkle Funeral Home, Avon Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
