Carolyn Sue Norrick, 86, of Gaston, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Morrison Woods Health Campus in Muncie.
Susie was born on November 7, 1934 in Elwood to the late Chester and Z. Pearl (Smock) Townsend. She was a 1952 graduate of Gaston High School. Susie married the love of her life, Richard A. Norrick, on November 8, 1952 and was married for 43 years before his passing in 1995. Susie retired in 1991 after 25 years at Star Financial Bank where she had worked as a loan officer and branch manager. She had also worked for J.C. Penney. Susie was a member of the Prairie Grove Church. She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. She loved her trips to Chicago to watch her Cubbies. Susie loved yard work and could be seen out in her yard, on any given day, mowing and tending to her flowers.
Susie leaves behind two children, Michael Norrick (wife Deborah) and Sandi Dowling (husband Rick); a brother, Keith Townsend (wife Dana); five sisters, Gladys Parker, Janice Winkle, Sally Nichols (husband Ronnie), Sharon Hatfield (husband Larry), and Jeanne Pike; four grandchildren, Daisha Hummel (husband Corey), Erin Jackson (husband Chad), Tiffany Norrick, and Tanner Norrick (fiancé Dailey Betz); seven great-grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Susie was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and John Townsend.
A private funeral service for family to celebrate Susie's life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St., Gaston, IN 47342. Pastor Michael Osborne will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Susie's family will gather to share and remember from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Thursday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
Due to COVID-19, Susie's family request that face masks be worn by all attendees.
