Clarence "Dink" J. Hensley, 93, of Muncie, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Bethel Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Clarence was born on April 08, 1928, in Yorktown, Indiana to the late Clarence H. and Ethel Mae (Jackson) Hensley. Clarence proudly served in the United States Army in Fort Jay New York. He attended the Indiana College of Mortuary Science and was a mortician in Marion, IN. for one and a half years. Dink worked several jobs simultaneously and became a route driver for both Colonial and Muncie Bread Companies in Muncie. Dink became a police officer in Muncie in 1962 and retired in 1982 after obtaining the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. Dink then went on to own two car washes and laundromat in Muncie.
Dink loved people, whether it be socializing or helping them. He enjoyed traveling to Florida in the winters, playing cards and his family. Dink was always taking his granddaughters out to eat at their special spots; Pizza King or Macs for their chili. He was the grandfather who fought the crowds for the newest Cabbage Patch dolls and was always finding ways to spoil them. Dink loved the Lord and his church family.
Dink is survived by a son, Chuck Hensley (Lyn) of Muncie, three grandchildren; Sarah Hensley, Shelly Foster, Jamie Hensley, three great-grandchildren; Kaden, Kayleigh and Liam.
Dink was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, JoAnna Ruth Hensley and a son, James Hensley.
A memorial service to celebrate Dink's life will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, July 19, 2021, at Industry United Methodist Church, 1912 S. Mock Ave., Muncie, IN 47302. Rev. John Burton will officiate. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Monday.
