Cuba Jean Buchanan, 91, of Yorktown, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Cuba was born on August 6, 1933, in Muncie, Indiana to the late John and Mary Mathew. She was a 1951 graduate of Yorktown High School. Cuba was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Elk's Lodge. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and attending all of her grandchildren's sporting and life events.
Cuba is survived by three children, Debbie Baldwin (Ron), Mike Buchanan, and Brian Buchanan (Nikki); seven grandchildren, Stacie Taylor (Andy), Chad Baldwin (Carleen), Bret Buchanan, Blair Barksdale (Rashad), Lindsey Buhagia (Jared), Natalie Mucciaro (David), and Corey Buchanan (Mary Kate); 12 great-grandchildren, Brady Kerrigan, Lexi Taylor, Hank and Hudson Pagnard, Camden, Kali, and Cruz Barksdale, and Olivia, Sofia, James Mucciaro, and Beau and Benji Baldwin; two sisters-in-law, Betty Mathew and Patty Nelson; and a brother-in-law, Don Buchanan (Janice);
Cuba was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Curtis Buchanan; four siblings, Guy Mathew (Mary), Louis Mathew (Pat), Robert Mathew, and Margaret Quire (Forest); and her stepfather, Virgil Hedgeland.
Cuba will be cremated with a celebration of life conducted by her family to be held over the summer.
