Eddie Gene “Ed” McKibben, 89, of Yorktown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Ed was born on May 26, 1937, to Gene and Erma (Mann) McKibben and grew up in Yorktown. He graduated from Yorktown High School.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. He later attended Utah State University, where he played basketball.

On May 5, 1957, Ed married the love of his life, Norma Barnard. They shared 63 years of marriage before Norma’s passing on November 26, 2020. Together they built a loving family with four children and a lifetime filled with treasured memories.

Ed enjoyed a long and distinguished career in real estate. He established Ed McKibben Realtors and was honored as Muncie Realtor of the Year. Through his work, he became a respected member of the Muncie and Yorktown business communities.

Ed Loved Bass Fishing, Golfing and being outdoors. He spent many winters on Lake Okeechobee in Florida.

Ed and Norma were longtime members of Christian Chapel Church in Muncie, Indiana.

Ed is survived by his sister, JoEllen Merryweather, brother, Charles Scott McKibben, four children, Brenda Green (husband Mark), Ron McKibben (wife Pamela), Todd McKibben (wife Terry), and Lori Britton (husband Roger); nine grandchildren, Kelsie McKibben, Justin Green (wife Jessica), Michaela Hiatt, Derrick McKibben (wife Chloe), Kadie McKibben (Thomas Valdez), Kirstin McKibben (Justin Vrahnos), Ben McKibben, Karlie McKibben, and Holly Britton; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He also leaves behind Denny and Nola Morris, who were not merely friends but beloved members of the family; dear family friend, Darlene Heath; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma McKibben; his parents, Gene and Erma McKibben; Stepfather, Gerald Niccum, brother, Monte Ray McKibben; and his granddaughter, Heidi Britton.

A funeral service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Miller Family Funeral Homes, 2215 S. Broadway St., Yorktown. Pastor Chris Neel will officiate. Burial will follow next to his wife in Hawk Cemetery, Yorktown.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and one hour prior to the service Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Miller Family Funeral Homes.
