Obituary

Elmer Thornbro, 81, of Muncie, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home, peacefully, surrounded by family. He fought a courageous battle with Alzheimer's and cancer.

Elmer was born February 10, 1935 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Paul and Goldie Thornbro. He attended Daleville Schools and graduated from Muncie Central High School. He retired after 30 years at Indiana Steel and Wire in 1985. He then owned and operated ET's Video with his wife, daughter, and family for over a decade. He went on to a third retirement from Walmart, where he enjoyed helping people in the hardware department.

Elmer never met a stranger, and his love for learning showed in his ability to converse. His many hobbies included photography, bowling, fishing, camping, and woodworking. He was a professional tinkerer, always working on multiple projects. Elmer was a dedicated Grandfather. He never missed an event in which his grandchildren were participating.

Elmer is survived by his loving wife Elaine Thornbro (Case) of Muncie, daughter Janet Sanders (husband Billy), grandchildren: Christan Sanders (husband Casey), Nathan Sanders (wife Karessa), and Allyson Stall (husband Kenneth); his brother Billyjoe Thornbro (wife Nora) of Daleville; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elmer was preceded in death by his three older sisters and eight brothers, as well as four sons.
