Gola "Toad" Tompa Hensley, 91, of Yorktown, passed away May 5, 2021 peacefully with his granddaughter Jane and his favorite nurse, Skye, by his side at Morrison Woods.

Toad was born on April 9, 1930 in Delaware County to the late Lewis and Gertrude Hensley.  He graduated from Yorktown High school in 1950 and served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army before marrying his wife, Ruhamah (Jackson).  They shared 62 years of marriage where they built a life raising a family, were third generation dairy farmers, operated Rural Fabric and Bridal Shop, and upon retirement wintered in Florida.  He also worked at the Yorktown Grainery and Borg Warner.  Toad was a member of Yorktown Christian Church, Eastern Indiana Livestock Breeders Association, Lion's Club and the O.B.C.  He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and watching sunsets and basketball.

Toad is survived by two sons, David Hensley Sr. (wife, Mary Anne) of Yorktown and Therl Hensley (wife, Sharla) of Daleville; son-in-law, Jerry Loy of Yorktown; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Toad was preceded in death by his wife, Ruhamah; daughter, Melinda Hensley Loy; and his 12 siblings.

A funeral service to celebrate Toad's life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Gant Funeral Homes - Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown, IN 47396. Pastor Jeff Castetter will officiate. Entombment will follow in Hawk Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday May 10, 2021 and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
