Hobart E. Sutton, 88, of Matthews, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 at University Nursing Center in Upland, Indiana.

Hobart was born February 6, 1929, in Marion, Indiana to the late Earl and Dora Sutton. He worked for Indiana Copper Corporation. Hobart enjoyed fishing, hunting, racing, scuba diving, listening to Elvis, and spending time with his grandchildren. Hobart used to referee wrestling for Dick the Bruiser. He had also worked with Elvis Impersonators, Bob McVay and Rod Carpenter.

Hobart is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn Sutton; two sons, Danny Sutton and Kenneth Sutton; one daughter, Peggy Sutton; step-daughter, Pam Copeland; step-son, Garr Fights; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Hobart was preceded in death by his five brothers and one sister.

A funeral service to celebrate Hobart's life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, Indiana. Burial will follow in Matthews Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Thursday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
