James C. Cox, 81, of Yorktown, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Jim was born on August 30, 1940, in Muncie, to the late Earlin and Dorothea (Montgomery) Cox. He was a 1958 graduate of Harrison Township High School. Jim retired from Delco Battery after 30 years of employment. Jim had been active in Boy Scouts and was a Troop Leader. Jim enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, and his pets.

Jim is survived by his wife, Janie Cox; two sons, Scott Cox and Erik Cox (wife Crissy); seven grandchildren, Andy Cox, Abbe Brevard (husband Michael), Brandon Cox (wife Kimiko), Shelby Cox, Nicholas Cox, Ella Cox, and Adalynn Cox; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jane Nicely (husband Bill).

Jim was preceded in death by a son, Gregory James Cox.

A funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Cremation will follow services.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
