Kenneth Eugene Earls, 93, of Muncie, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at his home in rural Muncie.
Eugene was born on September 7, 1932, to the late B Roy and Lora Earls in Worley, Kentucky. He served his country as an aircraft mechanic for the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Eugene retired from Chevrolet/New Venture Gear after 34 years where he worked as a machine repairman. He was a faithful member of Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church for over 50 years. Eugene was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, and wildlife. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially during family Sunday dinners.
Eugene is survived by two daughters, Claudia “Shell” Monroe (Richard) and Lisa Johnson (Glenn); four grandchildren, Carrie Monroe-Penrod (Jeremy), Courtney Jo Potts (Kris), Christopher Inman (Allison), and Chad Inman (Kiara Leas); eight great-grandchildren, Keni Jo Monroe, Journey Potts, Jentry Potts, Taylor Inman, Lucas Inman, Lexi Inman, Brantley Inman, and Blakeli Inman; sister, Mary Helen Coffey; brother, Robert Earls (Ruth); three sisters-in-law, Claudia Wright, Millie Earls, and Lynette Wright; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Eugene was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Rosa Lee Earls; son, Kenneth E. Earls Jr.; and three brothers, Edward Earls, Bonnel Earls, and Paul Earls.
A funeral service to celebrate Eugene’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Miller Family Funeral Homes, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Johnnie Blair Jr. and Bryan Wright will officiate. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share memories and remember Eugene from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday at Miller Family Funeral Homes.
