Lavada Ruddick, 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Indiana.

Lavada was born on September 28, 1935, in Louisville, Illinois to the late Jacob and Beatrice Porter. Lavada was a 1953 graduate of Yorktown High School. She married George Ruddick on June 12, 1954. Lavada worked as Assistant Director of Computing Services at Ball State University. She enjoyed traveling and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lavada is survived by two daughters, Rita Moore (husband Keith) of Rising Fawn, GA and Jean Ciriello of Warsaw; four grandchildren, Matt Moore (wife Ellie) of Knoxville, TN, Sarah Callaway (husband Chase) of Rome, GA, Alyssa Cates (husband Jeryl) of Warsaw, and Brandi Wagner (husband Jackson) of Charlottesville, VA; three great-grandchildren, Iris, Jack, and Henry; a sister, Dorothy Quate; and several nieces and nephews.

Lavada was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, George Ruddick; and two brothers, George and David Porter.

A public funeral service to celebrate Lavada's life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Private burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel. Masks are encouraged by the family.
