Obituary

LEONORA VESTA MRAK

10 February 1932 - 7 March 2017

Leonora passed silently and peacefully, the way she lived her life. Her gentle and gracious manner touched all she met.  Married for sixty six years, living a life as a military wife, she reared the family with love and devotion wherever the Air Force sent her. Upon retirement from the Air Force, the Colonel and his lady took cruises and shared their lives with their family with unity and grace emanating from her deep and abiding faith for the goodness of people. It was a life well-lived.

At age 85, she leaves her husband, Steve, daughters, Carol and Janice and son, Timothy and six grandchildren Peggy, Lauren, Thomas, Shannon, Nathan and Macy and their spouses. Her son Robert, passed July 2014, after a career with the Air Force.

She was raised and lived in Yorktown with her mother Wanda and Timothy Russell. Leonora graduated from Yorktown High School, 1950  and attended Ball State University, where she met and married Steve.  She graduated from St. Mary University and later gained her Masters Degree from Bowie State as a Reading Specialist.  She taught at Cable Elementary for 17 years: retiring from NISD in 1995.
