Lewis D. Mathew, 90, of Muncie, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Lewis was born on May 28, 1931, in Eaton, Indiana to the late John and Mary (Smallwood) Mathew. He was a 1950 graduate of Yorktown High School. Lewis was a sales manager at Midwest Towel before his retirement. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Lewis enjoyed genealogy, golfing, being outside, and taking drives in his truck.

Lewis is survived by three children, Sue Morgan (Ralph) of Yorktown, Janet Penix (Randy) of Muncie, and Scott Mathew of Muncie; eight grandchildren, Heather Smith (Tyler Peden), Zach Morgan (Kearsten), Sunni Matters (Cory), Mat Norton (Amy), Mallorie Penix, Ryan Mathew (Megan), Craig Mathew (Judith), and Evan Mathew (Alicia); 24 great-grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great-grandchild with one on the way; brother, Guy Mathew; sister, Cuba Buchanan; daughter-in-law, Sabrina Mathew; companion, Patty Nelson, and several nieces and nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pat Mathew; son, Tom Mathew; grandson, Cody Morgan; sister, Margaret Quire; Brother, Robert "John" Mathew; two brothers-in-law, Forest Quire and Curt Buchanan; and a sister-in-law, Mary Mathew.

A Memorial service to celebrate Lewis' life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, July 12, 2021, at Union Cemetery Chapel, 16301 N. State Rd. 3, Eaton, IN 47338. Pastor Norma West will officiate.
