Lorenda "Claudette" Shields, 71, of Gaston, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Claudette was born on March 17, 1951, to the late Sidney and Aredith Lambert. She was a 1969 graduate of Wes-Del High School. Claudette was a homemaker. She was a founding member of the Living Hope Christian Church. She enjoyed flea markets, bingo, telling stories, and spending time with her family and friends.

Claudette is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Clarence Shields; a son, Dennis Shields (wife Katie); two grandsons, Aaron Shields (wife Ellen) and Tyler Shields (fiancé Brittani Walker); three sisters, Sue Ann Knott (husband Bill), Jayne Lambert, and Mardell Kuhns; big brother in heart, Steve Armstrong (wife Val); nephew, Joshua Knott (wife Mary Ann) and several other nieces and nephews; and mother-in-law, Nelda Shields.

Claudette was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Richard D. Shields.

A funeral service to celebrate Claudette's life will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston. Pastor Brandon Petro will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, September 26, 2022, and also one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Claudette's family to aid in funeral expenses.
