Norma F. Songer, 90, of Gaston, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at her home in rural Gaston.

Norma was born on April 5, 1936, in East Bank, West Virginia. She attended East Bank High School. Norma was a homemaker and had also worked as a seamstress. She was a member of the Gaston Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed garage sales and spending time with her family.

Norma is survived by two children, Steve Songer (wife Denise) and Kay Oliver (husband Doug); nine grandchildren, Donnie Oliver, Ruthann Ratliff, William Oliver (wife Trish), Bradley Songer, Rachel Clupper, Noel Gaddis (wife Jennifer), Doug Firestone (wife Kerri), Joe Clock, Jason Clock, ; 14 great-grandchildren, Tomika, LeAnna, Austin, Crystal, Brooke, Noah, Matthew, Shaylona, Morgan, Lucas, Navah, Dylan, Urijah, and Braxton; nine great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Roode and Timothy Roode; brother-in-law, Harold Christiansen; sister-in-law, Cathy Fancil and several nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Don Songer; a daughter, Rita Clock; father, Daniel Hughes; Mother, Dona Roode; stepfather, Okey Roode; and two sisters, Rosalie Songer and Sandy Pack.

A funeral service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, September 25, 2026, at Miller Family Funeral Homes, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Pastor Scott McClain will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Friday at Miller Family Funeral Homes.
