Peggy Ann Cole, 63, passed away on Thursday morning, August 11, 2022, at her home in Muncie following a courageous battle with cancer.
Peggy was born on April 28, 1959, in Muncie to the late Bertie and Ruth Smith. She was a 1977 graduate of Wes-Del High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in nursing from Ball State University. Peggy worked as a registered nurse for 42 years with over 25 years at Ball Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed caring for her patients and found comfort in her strong faith with God. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church and attended Calvary Christian Church. Peggy served with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and the Girl Scouts as a troop leader. She enjoyed biking, boating, water and snow skiing, and gardening.
Peggy is survived by her two children, Stephanie Cole and Matthew Cole; five siblings, Karen Smith, Linda Smith, Roxie Puckett, Tammy Allen (husband Chris), and Bertie Smith; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Lilly.
A funeral service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 19, 2022, at High Street United Methodist Church, 219 S. High St. in Muncie. Pastor Teri Crouse will officiate. Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery in Gaston.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the church.
