Rita S. Dragoo, 64, of Parker City, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Rita was born on August 26, 1957, to the late William Sr. and Shirley Doughty. She was a 1975 graduate of Wapahani High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University. She married Thomas "Tad" Dragoo on September 2, 1978. Rita was an educator having worked at Ball State University, Monroe Central High School, and the University of North Texas. Rita was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved time spent with her grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Tad Dragoo; two daughters, Laura Mickler (husband Alex) and Rachel Leatherwood (husband Corey); two grandchildren, Rowan and Milo Mickler; several extended family members; and a very special group of friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Bill Doughty Jr.

A funeral service to celebrate Rita's life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2022, and one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hillcroft Services, 501 W. Air Park Dr., Muncie, IN 47303.
