Robert Wheeler, 78, of Gaston, passed away on January 3, 2022, at his home in rural Gaston.

Robert was born on June 30, 1943, in Delaware County, IN to the late Emerson F. and Ruby Rachel (McCreery) Wheeler. He graduated from Royerton High School and went on to attend Ivy Tech College. Robert was a United States Army veteran stationed in Germany during the 1960's. Robert worked for Westinghouse until it closed and later worked in R.V. manufacturing in Elkhart, IN.

Robert is survived by his sister, Mary Margaret Burris (husband William) of Edwardsville, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by a brother, James Orton Wheeler; and sister, Rachel Willis.

A funeral service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel. Robert's nephew, Pastor Kregg Burris, will officiate. Burial will follow in Thompson Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm Wednesday, at Gant Funeral Homes – Gaston Chapel.
