Ronald G. Rule, 78, of Yorktown, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Ron was born on February 12, 1945, in Anderson to the late Roy and Marcella Rule. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School in Modoc. Ron worked as a tool and die maker for Delco Remy for nearly 30 years. He was a ham radio operator with the call sign of RuleN9eea. Ron enjoyed writing poetry, art and painting, reading, logic puzzles, spending time in nature, fishing, animals, and sarcastic one-liners.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Jan Rule; three children, Andrea Rule (Clinton Davis) of Upland, Amanda Rule Dillard (Jason) of Muncie, and Bryan Smith (Emily) of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Joshua Reed (Mandy) of Nevada, Amelia Rule of Indianapolis; Stephanie Bustillo (Carlos) of Florida, Autumn Baker (Daniel Beeman) of Alexandria, Justin Baker of Anderson, Breanna Baker of Kentucky; and Daisey Smith of Arizona; and six great-grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by two daughters, Stacee Rule Baker and Jennifer Smith; brother, John Jr.; sister, Phyllis; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown, IN. Burial of Ron's ashes will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery near Losantville.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, Thursday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
