Sandra June Collins, 83, of Yorktown, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

Sandra was born on October 1, 1939, in Muncie to the late Dallas Dale and Evelyn Christina Sheward. She was a 1957 graduate of Yorktown High School. Sandra married Tommy L. Collins on May 19, 1957. Sandra worked for Yorktown Schools for over 40 years and retired in 2012 after 30 years as cafeteria manager at Pleasant View Elementary School. She attended Scotland Christian Church in Frankfort. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sandra is survived by three daughters, Kim McBarnes (husband Tim), Lori Smith (husband Rex), and Misty Hamilton (husband John); four grandchildren, Chris McBarnes (wife Samantha), Craig McBarnes (wife Jackie), Paige McGahey of London, England, and Adrianna Smith; step-granddaughter, Emme Hamilton; a great-grandson, Lincoln McBarnes and one on the way; three siblings, Vickie Noel (companion Larry), Dallas J. Sheward (wife Lois), and David Chris Sheward (wife Vickie); and several nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Tommy L. Collins; and her sister, Jacqueline Sheward-Gibbons.

A funeral service to celebrate Sandra's life will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
