Thomas D. Harte, 68, of Muncie, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
Thomas was born March 29, 1949 in Davenport, Iowa to the late Samuel and Irene Harte. He graduated from Wes-Del High School in 1967. He was a tool and die maker and had been employed by Chrysler, Allison Gas Turbine, General Motors, and retired from Rolls Royce in 2002. Thomas was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was part of the 151st Company D, Air Borne Rangers. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and various motorcycle clubs. He enjoyed working with his hands and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his three daughters, Kari King (husband Mike) of Muncie, Precia Harte of Fishers, and Amy Harte of Whiteland; seven grandchildren, Connor King, Corbin King, Destany Harte, Jesse Jones, Julia Jean Adams, Ali Hubbard, and Kaylee Hubbard; two brothers, Kerry Harte and Kenny Harte (wife Pam); sister, Nikki Musick (husband Jim); his beloved K-9 companion, Smoke; and several nieces and nephews.
Thomas is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Harte, and granddaughter, Alexus Harte.
A memorial service to celebrate Thomas's life will be held at 5:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel, 109 W. Elm St. in Gaston, Indiana. Military honors will be conducted by the veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard at Matthews Cemetery immediately following.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 3:30 P.M. until 5:30 P.M. Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes, Gaston Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be given to the veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
