Thomas F. Townsend, 69, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his home in Anderson, Indiana.

Tom was born June 3, 1946 in Muncie, Indiana to the late Vaughn L. and Jean (Gallagher) Townsend. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1964 and went on to attend Lincoln Technical Institute. Tom was a United States Marine Corp. Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Tom worked for Guide Lamp, a division of General Motors, in Anderson. Tom was a member of the Daleville Masonic Lodge and York Rite. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. Tom enjoyed cars, auctions, and spending time with his family and sons.

Tom is survived by two sons, Matthew Townsend of Muncie and Brian Townsend of Yorktown; sister, Peggy Flanagan (husband Robert) of Yorktown; brother, Vaughn Townsend of Yorktown; two nephews, Michael and Daniel Flanagan; and a niece, Bridget Flanagan.

A funeral service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown with Pastor Cindy Osgood officiating. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday and also one hour prior to services Tuesday at Gant Funeral Homes, Yorktown Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Yorktown American Legion.
